On his popular, NPR program “Back to the Blue Ridge” on WVTF, Prof. Kinney Rorrer said of their new self-titled release, “If you want some wonderful, traditional string music then this is the CD for you."

Judy, Henry & Jack’s refreshing treatment of traditional and original acoustic Appalachian songs adds depth and polish to your listening enjoyment.

On the right are several samples of songs from the CD.  More samples are on the Judy Henry and Jack site on You Tube.

In her review of our CD in the June-July 2008 issue of "The Old-Time Herald," Alice Gerrard calls the instrumental style "tasteful and understated" and the singing style "with full, pleasant harmonies."  We are thrilled to have this review and very grateful to Alice.

Jack's Corner

As many of you know Jack suffered a stroke in late August.  His right side was affected causing a setback in his playing and singing.  Rehab is going well and he should be able to perform at the Blue Ridge Folklife Festival at Ferrum with Judy and Henry.

The object of countless prayers and well-wishes, Jack is deeply touched and grateful.  He only hopes he can adequately perform to express his thanks to everyone.

An important project for Jack is working with the 12,000-girl-strong Skyline Council of the Girl Scouts

in Roanoke, VA.  On behalf of the

Roanoke Valley Fiddle & Banjo Club, a 40-year-old not-for-profit, Jack designed and wrote the requirements for their Traditional Music badge seen here.

This badge was designed to encourage girls to learn about their own localle's musical traditions and cultures.  In addition, the badge encourages similar organizations the the RVF&BC to sponsor a similar badge with their own logos imbedded.

Several large and small events are run by the Girl Scouts around this badge and the efforts of all the volunteers.  Please check out their website for details.
