Aragon Mill - Si Kahn (*Jack Zell)
At the east end of town at the foot of the hill
stands a chimney so tall; it says Aragon Mill.
But there's no smoke at all coming our of the stack
for the mill has shut down and is never coming back.
And the only sound I hear is the cry of the wind
as it blows through the town,
weave and spin; weave and spin.
No children play at all in the dark narrow streets
since the loom has shut down it's so quiet I can't sleep
The mill has shut down t'was the only life I know
tell me what can I do; tell me where will I go?
*The owners got rich and the weavers got poor;
* my lungs became brown and chains bar its door.
I'm too weak to work and I'm too young to die
tell me where will I go now, my family and I.
Big River Blues - Delmore Brothers
Let it rain; let it pour;
let it rain a whole lot more,
'cause I've got those big river blues.
Let it rise; let it fall;
let the waves make a wall
'cause I've got those big river blues.
My old gal's a good old pal,
but she looks like a water fowl when
I get those big river blues.
There ain't no one to cry for me
and the fish all go our on a spree
when I get those big river blues.
Bring me back my old boat
I'm gonna sail if it will float
'cause I've got those big river blues.
I'm going back to Mussel Shoals
'times are better there I'm told
'cause I've got those big river blues
And if my boat sinks with me
I'll go down, don't you see.
'cause I've got those big river blues.
And now I'm going to say good-bye
and if I sink just let me die,
'cause I've got those big river blues.
